She’d Be Thrilled
Gift In Memory Of Newport’s Marie Flint Supports New Website
Unassuming and preferring to work behind the scenes, the late Marie Flint left an indelible mark upon the Newport Community, especially for the Senior Center.
“Marie loved the mission and cause of the Center,” said the late Larry Flint, Marie’s husband of 51 years. “Its impact and the lives it impacted were very important to her.”
Marie passed away in 2018 and her family is proud to have made a memorial gift to support the Newport Senior Center’s new website. The NH Charitable Foundation also made a contribution.
A Certified Public Accountant, Marie opened her own accounting firm in 1989 in Newport where she successfully practiced until she retired and sold her business. Throughout her career she belonged to the Maine Association of Professional Accountants, New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the State of NH Board of Accountancy, and the National Society of Accountants.
She served on the board of the Senior Center and as its treasurer for many years. She also volunteered at her church, the library, the chamber of commerce, and on the school board, among other posts.
“Marie strongly believed in giving back,” said Larry, who passed away in 2025. “When it came to volunteering and supporting her community, she really led by example and touched countless lives. But she never wanted the spotlight.”
Larry, who was also a volunteer fixture at the Senior Center and for numerous local causes, said that Marie was particularly appreciative of the Center’s efforts in helping older adults remain independent and safe as long as possible. “The work of the Center truly resonated with her,” he said. “And she’d be honored and thrilled that we made this donation in her memory.”
